The Sofa Slam
The Sofa Slam is Barking & Dagenham's first ever poetry slam. Hosted at The White House in Dagenham, The Sofa Slam follows slam tradition; bringing poetry to the people, into the home.
Whether you are new to poetry, an established poet or just a little curious, the Sofa Slam is an evening of outstanding free poetry. Enter the slam to perform, win a prize and make your voice heard.
Each slam is accompanied by an afternoon workshop for an opportunity to flex your writing muscles and experiment with style and create new poetry.
The Sofa Slam is produced and emceed by Aislinn Evans. Aislinn is an East London poet, artist & cartoonist, former SLAMbassador, world slam championships finalist, and youngest ever UK Slam Champion. Aislinn founded the Sofa Slam in 2018, Barking & Dagenham's first ever poetry slam. They have been commissioned by Nationwide and worked in collaboration with the Barbican.
