White House Visit to Liverpool

Friday 15th November
10am-8pm

Join The White House for a trip to Liverpool. We will be visiting:

Homebaked is a community land trust and co-operative bakery situated on the boundary between the neighbourhoods of Everton and Anfield, just opposite the Liverpool Football Club. The project is co-owned and co-produced by people who live and work in our area. Starting from having saved our iconic neighbourhood bakery from demolition and developed it into a thriving community-run business with a beautiful apartment above we are proposing to regenerate our high street ‘brick by brick and loaf by loaf’, using money that is spent in the neighbourhood to benefit our communities.
This work is based on the simple belief that we all deserve to live well. For us that means good jobs, secure homes, great food and welcoming spaces to meet, share stories, learn and celebrate.

Kitty’s Laundrette is a community launderette and social space on Grasmere Street in the Everton area of Liverpool. We offer high-quality, affordable ecological services, as well as a space for people to gather, talk and learn. Kitty’s Launderette is a social business and worker-community cooperative, run by a small team of Liverpool residents, all our profits are reinvested back into our community, helping to make more good things happen from events to weekly activities.

Granby Four Streets is an ongoing community-led project to rebuild Granby, a Liverpool neighbourhood that was nearly made derelict by decades of poorly-planned regeneration initiatives. Granby Four Streets Community Land Trust wants to create a thriving, vibrant mixed community, building on the existing creativity, energy and commitment within the community, where people from all walks of life can live, work and play. Granby CLT includes the realisation of a number of projects including 10 houses on Cairns Street, Granby Winter Garden, Granby Workshop, Granby Market and Greening Granby.

Part of Mutual Restructure, a programme of research and activity to explore The White House’s structure; interrogating its model, governance systems, decision-making processes, how it operates and cooperates, to move towards a new model of independence. Mutual Restructure will see us work with our communities to undertake a process of collective learning, to test out and generate a new model that is reflective of our ethos and representative of our community; spanning programme, governance and operation.
